The vice chancellor together with the president of the CIBN, Dr. Uche Olowu, the immediate past president of the CIBN, professor Segun Ajibola, and other Executives at a luncheon held in honour of the President of the Chartered Institute of Bankers OF Nigeria at Sheraton hotel, Ikeja. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Ayandiji Daniel Aina has blamed successive governments for the slow pace of the Nations development attributing it to inadequate funding of research. “We said education is the bedrock of development, if it is indeed the bedrock of development, and government is not funding it, it means we are not having a good foundation as a Nation, our national budget for education has remained around six percent when the united nations educational scientific and cultural organization (UNESCO) recommended about almost triple that percentage.” Olowu who also admitted a huge gap between the town and gown said in addressing the decline of the quality of graduates, the management of the institution must be commended for bringing experienced people from the outside world into the university to impact on the students.
