It plays a key role in upholding academic integrity, handling student records, and ensuring the effective functioning of the university’s governance under the leadership of the Registrar.

Our Mandate & Core Functions

The Registry is tasked with the critical responsibility of managing the university’s academic administration. Our core functions include:

  • Student Academic Records: Maintenance and security of all student records from admission to graduation.
  • Admissions Management: Overseeing the entire admissions process, including the publication of admission lists.
  • Matriculation and Convocation Ceremonies: Planning and executing the official matriculation (welcoming) and convocation (graduation) ceremonies.
  • Personnel Management: Responsible for managing personnel recruitment, appointment, promotions, welfare and training.
  • Course Registration and Examination Administration: Managing the central processes for course registration and coordinating the conduct of examinations.
  • Transcripts and Certificates: Processing requests for and issuance of official academic transcripts and degree certificates.
  • Statutory Compliance: Serving as Secretary to the University Senate and other key committees, ensuring adherence to university laws and regulations.
  • Policy Formulation and Implementation: Developing and implementing academic and administrative policies in line with the university’s strategic goals.

Divisions/Units within the Registry

To serve you better, the Registry is organized into specialized units:

  • Academic Affairs Unit: Manages admissions, student records, course registration, and examination results.
  • Senate and Council Secretariat: Handles the business of the University Senate and Council, including minutes and policy documentation.
  • Student Affairs Unit (in collaboration): Works closely with the Student Affairs Office on matters of student discipline and welfare.
  • Records and Documentation Unit: Responsible for the archiving, retrieval, and issuance of all official academic documents.
  • Establishments Unit: Handles staff appointments, promotions, welfare, discipline and training.
