Caleb University Renews Tenure of Prof. Adedeji Samuel Daramola

Caleb University has confirmed the renewal of the tenure of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC), Prof Adedeji Samuel Daramola, for a second term in office. 

With this development, Prof. Daramola will serve as Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academics (DVC, Academics)

Prof Daramola, a recipient of the prestigious World Bank Study Fellowship for a multidisciplinary doctoral research in University of Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom, is the first Professor of Architecture with specialization on Nomadic Housing  in the world. Prior to his appointment as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Caleb University, he was the pioneer Rector, Redeemer’s College of Technology and Management (RECTEM), Redemption Camp, Mowe, the Dean of College of Environmental Sciences and Management, as well as Dean of Student Affairs in Caleb University.

The energetic and charismatic scholar has carried out extensive studies on the nomadic settlements especially the pastoral ‘Fulbe’ nomads in Nigeria. He has also visited a number of Gypsies’ Caravan sites in the United Kingdom during his Scholarship at the Centre for Architectural Research and Development Overseas (CARDO). 

He is a registered Architect with the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON), a member of Nigerian Institute of Architects (MNIA), a member of the International Energy Foundation, (MIEF) Canada, a member of Association of Architectural Educators of Nigeria (MAARCHES), a member, European Network of Housing Researchers (ENHR), Sweden, 

Indeed, Prof Daramola’s renewal of tenure is an acknowledgement and appreciation of his contributions in the first two years as DVC. Widely travlled, the Architect was an external supervisor to the School of Architecture and Design, Howard University, USA.

He is a reviewer to several international journals and assessors to several institutions. He has published widely in a number of reputable journals.

A well respected searchlighter renowned for his pioneering prowress, Prof Daramola pioneered a number of institutions. In 1994, he coordinated the establishment of School of Architecture in Federal University of Technology, Yola. He was the pioneer Head of School of Architecture in Covenant University, Nigeria (2003-2006). He was the pioneer Executive Director, Institute for Environment Research and Development (IERD), (2007- 2009). In 2009, Prof Daramola was the pioneer Head of School of Architecture, Bells University of Technology, Ota (2009 -2013), and moved to Caleb University, Lagos to commence the post-graduate School of Architecture (2013-2016).
