PROFESSOR OLUMUYIWA SUNDAY ADEWALE
Prof. Olumuyiwa Sunday Adewale is a Professor of Applied Mathematics and the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) of Caleb University. He holds a B.Tech (Hons) in Pure and Applied Mathematics, an M.Tech in Mathematics, and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics.
Prof. Adewale has participated in academic conferences and workshops in over fifteen countries across four continents, including a presentation at Oxford University, United Kingdom (2015), and engagements at the National Open University of Singapore (2012). His academic and administrative experience continues to support Caleb University’s commitment to strengthening research, enhancing teaching quality and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration.
Early Life and Education
His educational foundation began at Kosy Bethel Primary School, Ilupeju, after which he attended Ilupeju College, Lagos State. He proceeded to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Pure and Applied Mathematics.
Prof. Adewale started his professional journey as an Administrative Officer in the Student Affairs Unit of LAUTECH (2002–2004). Driven by academic ambition, he returned for postgraduate studies at LAUTECH and completed both his M.Tech (2003) and Ph.D. (2008) in Applied Mathematics.
Academic and Professional Career
In 2009, he undertook a postdoctoral research experience at the University of Manitoba, Canada. Upon returning to Nigeria, he resumed at LAUTECH in 2010 as Lecturer I. Over the years, he has served in several academic and administrative roles, including:
- Head, Department of Pure and Applied Mathematics (2014–2017)
- Staff Adviser, Pure and Applied Mathematics Students Association (2007–2013)
- Staff Adviser, Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences Students Association (2008–2014)
- Investment Secretary, ASUU LAUTECH Branch (2011–2012)
- Member, Students Disciplinary Committee (2012–2015)
- National Vice President, LAUTECH Alumni Association (2008–2010)
- He was promoted to the rank of Professor of Mathematics with effect from October 1, 2016, and subsequently served as Dean of Student Affairs at LAUTECH.

Prof. Adewale has received several recognitions, including:
- Federal Government Scholarship Award for Postgraduate Studies (2002)
- Best Lecturer of Mathematics (2010)
- Most Approachable and Friendly Lecturer (2011)
- Award for Service and Contribution to the Development of LAUTECH (2012)

Prof. Adewale has participated widely in local and international conferences and has authored about fifty (50) academic publications. He has successfully supervised seven (7) Ph.D. candidates and fifteen (15) Master’s students.
Service to Caleb University
Before his appointment as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), he served Caleb University in various capacities, including:
- Member, Visitation Panel
- Member, Governing Council (2019 and 2021)
- Chairman, Board of Survey
Ag. Chairman, Board of Pre-degree Science, among others.
