The Department of Political Science and International Relations took off in the 2011/2012 academic session. The mission of the Department is to be at a level where it can compete favourably with the best of such Departments in Africa and the world. Our vision is to produce a generation off well-equipped, well informed and globally competitive individuals who can excel as Leaders in whatever endeavour they choose to serve mankind. Our department serves as a dynamic hub for understanding the forces that shape governance, political discourse, and global interactions. We offer a rigorous exploration of political theory, comparative politics, international law, diplomacy, and strategic studies. Students engage with contemporary issues such as global security, foreign policy analysis, international political economy, and development studies.

With a curriculum designed to foster critical thinking and articulate communication, we prepare graduates to contribute meaningfully to public service, international organizations, global business, and civil society.

Head of Department

Dr. Olayinka Babatunde Adebogun is an altar minister in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG), Marvelous Sanctuary Zone under Province 63. is a devout Christian and has served as both a member and Head of Music Department in Redeemed Christian Church of God, Grace Sanctuary and City of the lord under the leadership of Pastor Cyprian Orakpo and Pastor Abimbola Abioye and Holy Hill Parish under Pastor Oyedeji and Pastor Micheal Adesokan.

Dr. Olayinka Adebogun is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Political Science and International Relations, Caleb University, Imota, Lagos and he is currently serving as the acting Head of Department in the same Department. He is happily married and is blessed with three children and two other children are under his care

Dr. Olayinka Babatunde Adebogun was born in Abeokuta Ogun State in 25th June, 1979. He is a native of Imota in Ikorodu Local Government Area, Lagos Sate, Nigeria. He attended Methodist Primary School, Imota, Ikorodu, Lagos where he bagged his First School Leaving Certificate between 1986-1992. He then proceeded to Imota Community Grammar School, (ICGS) from 1992-1997 and served as both cultural Prefect and Mail Prefect and also finally bagged his secondary school certificate from the same school.

He proceeded to Lagos State University, Ojo from 2003-2010 and maintained number Seven of the ten best students throughout his stays in the university and bagged his Bachelor of Science degree, (Hons) in Political Science with second class Upper Division.

Dr. Olayinka Babatunde Adebogun convocated in 2013 and also obtained a Master’s degree in Political Science with specialization in Public Administration from Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State. Also, he obtained his Ph.D degree in Political Science with specialization in Public Administration from Babcock University in July, 2022.

Dr. Olayinka Babatunde Adebogun has several publications in both local and international Journal outlets in his field of study. He also has some contributions in book chapters. Also, he has attended many international conferences and workshops in other to build his academic capacity.
