Oluwole A. ALAGBE is a renowned scholar, researcher, and academic mentor. He holds a Bachelor of Science, second-class upper division, and Master of Science degrees in Architecture from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1998 and 2000 respectively. He had a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Architecture from Covenant University, Ota (2009). He became a full member of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) in 2009, a registered architect with the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) in 2010 and a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Architects in 2023.

Prof. Alagbe started his teaching career in Covenant University as an Assistant Lecturer in 2003. He rose through the ranks to become a Senior Lecturer in 2015. He was elevated to the rank of a Professor of Architecture in 2021 in Caleb University, Imota, Lagos State. He delivered the 9th Inaugural Lecture of the university on “The Architect of the Universe, the Bauhaus, and the Future Professionals: Repositioning Architectural Education in Nigeria for Global Relevance”. His inaugural lecture focused on integrating timeless principles of the Bauhaus movement into Nigeria’s architectural education to prepare future professionals for global relevance.

Prof. Alagbe has published extensively in reputable local and international journals, with several papers indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. He also has various papers presented at international conferences, including INTED, EDULEARN, and ICERI. With over 844 citations on Google Scholar, h-index of 16 and i10-index of 26, Professor Alagbe’s work has has equally contributed to architectural practice through consultancy on institutional projects and his advocacy for sustainable building practices using indigenous materials has had a significant impact on the field of architecture and education.

Prof, Alagbe has shown remarkable administrative and professional leadership. He has served in various administrative capacities including Acting Head, Department of Architecture, at Covenant University from 2016-2018, and membership of several academic committees He is currently the Dean, College of Environmental Sciences and Management, Caleb University, Lagos State, Nigeria Imota (2021 to date). He also currently serves as Chairman, Senate Business Committee, Chairman, Students Disciplinary and Welfare Committee and member of several University committees. He is also a member of the Governing Council of Caleb University, Imota.

As part of academic mentorship service and peer recognition, Prof. Alagbe has successfully supervised more than forty-seven master’s dissertation and nine doctorate theses. He has also served as postgraduate examiner/assessor in numerous institutions. He was part of a multi-disciplinary research team that won Covenant University Senate Research Grant (2004) for the study on the “Trends of Architectural Practice in Nigeria since 1960: Precursors and Potentials” and Covenant University Centre for Research and Development Grant (2009) for study on Urban Renewal and Upgrading: Simulation for a New Ota by 2030.

His academic community service includes review of scholarly articles for several journals, chairing several technical sessions in conferences and serving as guest speaker in discipline-related discourse. Prof. Alagbe’s career goal is to continuously engage in collaborative and multi-disciplinary academic research, dissemination of knowledge through peer-reviewed academic publications, academic mentorship and public advocacy with a bid to improve the quality of architectural education and access to quality housing and in Nigeria.
