- Was admitted to the Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Sciences at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan Nigeria in September, 1967.
- Graduated first class honours in the Department of Agricultural Biology at the University of Ibadan in June 1970.
- Went up to the University of Cambridge, UK in January 1971. Graduated Ph.D in Crop Physiology in the department of Applied Biology at Cambridge in March, 1974. While at Cambridge, was junior member of Wolfson College.

Research
- Physiology of Crop production in the cropping systems of the humid lowland tropics. Using growth analysis techniques to factorise growth, development and yield of field crops for elucidating response to varying factors of production. Charting physiological crop attributes that can be harnessed for sustainable economic yield in the cropping systems of the humid lowland tropics.
- Major supervisor to 20 Honours; 12 Masters and 8 Ph.D. research projects spanning 30 years.
- Minor supervisor to 40 Masters and 15 Ph.D research projects spanning 32 years.
- Sole or part-author of 54 journal articles since 1975; part-authored 8 technical reports, including World Bank assisted Projects.
